What if we had a customer service rep in life? Someone you can call to discuss any issues and work out solutions. Wouldn’t that be nice? Would they keep you updated on your resolutions, your goals? Would they help you change things? How would you use your customer service rep?
“Hello, thank you for calling customer service. I see you’re requesting a new life. How may I help you today?” She said. The voice on the other end reminded me of my old grade school teacher. She was the kindest person I’ve ever met, and that’s why I remembered her. “I think there’s been a mistake,” I said. “What seems to be the problem, sir?” She asked. “I’m just not having fun anymore. The days are long, and my work seems to provide little if progress at all. What am I supposed to do?”
“I’m sorry for the inconvenience, let me see if I can help you out. It looks like you submitted a trouble ticket. I can go ahead and get that sent out right away. Was there anything else I can help you with today?” She asked. “That’s it, thank you. You’re a lifesaver.” I finished and hung up the phone.
If only it were that easy. Every year we experience the same phenomenon. The end of the year arrives, and we set resolutions. A resolution is more than just a goal. It’s a promise of change for the betterment of individuality. Why do we wait so long? 365 days, that’s how long a year is. It’s not just resolutions. Most financial hardships become like a snowball, growing bigger and bigger until it causes problems. We don’t start our fitness goals because we don’t have the time. We continue to apply old equations to our current issues.
Why do we wait for the chance to experience something beautiful? Each year we are given 365 days. 365 beautiful days we break into minutes. Each minute is essential, (Over 500,000 minutes a year) each minute consists of its sixty moments. In each moment, we can change. Instead of waiting for our new year goals we can use our moments today.
Don’t wait 364 days, make a change, tomorrow. Start with your most precious resource. Your mind. Everything we are, everything we think we can be, and everything we will become inside us. If your resolution is reading, start tomorrow. Read as many books as you can until the new year. If its fitness, start tomorrow, fitness results from action. If you’re stuck, change the tools in your toolbox, and start tomorrow! Stop waiting and take the new day.
